How LaMaison began, and the idea it is built on.
LaMaison began with a rushed city life and a wish for somewhere to properly rest, and to spend real time with the people closest to us. We built it new, from the ground up, in the medieval village of Sveti Petar u Šumi, on 2,500 square metres of private ground in the quiet of inland Istria.
Every detail came from our own years of travel, and from one question we kept asking, what small thing could quietly become a moment of wonder for a guest. The answer was always the same, that the finest luxury is having less to think about.
The house does not announce itself. Guests notice it after a while, in the warmth of the stone, the length of the light, the sense that the day has been considered before they woke. That is when they understand how much it holds.

The house is Andrea and Matija's, purpose built and run by them. What you meet during a stay is them, and the people they have chosen, never a brand team. They live by the same idea the house is built on, that a good day asks nothing of you.
